Thanksgiving day in Alabama

I think that Thanksgiving is for Americans almost as important as Christmas.u I spent it in Alabama, starting from the capital of this state – little city Montgomery. I did not expect that they have such a nice state capitol. Elegant white building stands on the little hill surrounded by the green lawn. I left my car on the parking space reserved for “governer’s staff” to take pictures. Down from the capitol you can visit nice and elegant building of the Union Station – inside there is tourist info office. Underground passage allows to go to the bank of Alabama River and enjoy the stylish  steamboat waiting for the tourists.

Some 3 hours later I reached Mobile on the coast of Mexican Gulf – the only sea port of Alabama. Battleship “Alabama” from WW2 is probably main tourist attraction of the city, but it is also worth to walk along the old Dauphine Street enjoying iron balconies of the historic houses – they look like those in New Orleans. But this quarter was almost empty today. Americans stay at home and eat the traditional turkey. :)20151125_191404
