Savannah – Georgia

Do you know that in the USA each year they celebrate Pulaski Day?  Kazimierz Pulaski, general and Polish-American hero was fighting for the independence of the US. He was wounded during the battle of Savannah and passed away few days after.

In the morning it was sunny but cold. I crossed by car state border to Georgia. It is nice that just few miles from the border there are information centre distributing free maps. I got one and two hours later I was in old Savannah. Old city is very shady with big trees along narrow streets. There are 21 little squares. On one of them I found Pulaski Monument. It is funny, but competly diffrent place is named Pulaski Square – without any monument :)

Riverfront with old storage houses converted into shops and restaurants is very picturesque. Lovely steamboats operate from here with the tourists. Great day!
