In the morning we docked in Roseau (pronounce Roso) – the capital of the one of the poorest Caribbean republics. It has not white beaches but high green mountains of volcanic origin, hot springs and waterfalls. Dominica surprised us by… morning rain. Clouds were sliding down from the mountais generating warm rain. Sun, rain, sun – rain again. We disembarked anyway and took a walk through the marrow streets of the capital. There are news here: the catholic St Mary cathedral is finally open! Interior is poor, but they have a place to celebrate Christmas. Then we went to the Botanical Gardens to photograph exotic trees and flowers. Sorry, no excursion to the wet hills to see waterfalls. Public transport do not go there and they wanted 40 USD pp to Jacko Fall and Emerald pool where you can swim. Tomorrow we will be on Martinique…
