Wojtek's travel log

St Kitts or Saint Christopher Island

Dark cloud was flying over this island in the morning when we arrived but after short , warm shower the sky became blue again. I know already this island. A year ago I was here to take a little ferry to the remote island of Nevis. So now it is a chance to stroll around the capital city of this mini-state – Basseterre to see old churches, the old clock on the Circus (like local Picadilly Circus) and to look how the local black people live like.

Basseterre is a little city of narrow streets very close to the port where we dock. It is very vibrant, streets are full of people and cars. Not easy to get internet connection, some restaurants and cafes offer the wi-fi password for fee, drink etc but there are two cruise ships today in a port and this generates huge demand and… broken connections. Finally I found it in Subway shop – for the smile  :)

It is not easy to photograph the people here – they feel poor and every tourist is rich, so he have to pay for everything…

I found two other nice Poles on the ship and I am happy to speak Polish from time to time. Tomorrow next island – Dominica!
