Wojtek's travel log

Dominica, not Dominicana

They call it the nature island of the Caribbean. Dominica is one of the poorest countries of this region. It is hilly, with mountains up to 1500 m above sea level. The capital city – little Roseau has just one dock for the cruise ship in the centre so from tbe ship you are going directly to the streets of vibrant city. Local people here are much more friendly then on St Kitts – very often they politely greet you on the street.

They have nice botanical garden and the trail going from the garden up to the viewpoint giving the full panoramic view of the city and port.

In the narrow colonial streets I found tiny Cherry Lodge where I was staying for few days some 20 years ago. Memories….

Looking for the new place to see I took a public bus (4 carib dollars each way) to the southern end of the island,  In Scotts Heads there is a little peninsula with a hill. The view from this hill is really great. Just see the picture:

I returned to the ship just an hour before departure. It means that I missed my lunch. But it was worth! Greetings from lovely Dominica, dear Friends!
