The fortress in Bilhorod.

It is probably second big and well- preserved fortress in Ukraine. It was built from 13th century on. It is located on the high bank in the mouth of the Dniestr River. Less then 100 kms south of Odessa but the junk “elektrichka” departing 4 times per day from Odessa station needs 2,5 hours to get there. The ticket is dirty cheap – 30 UAH = less than 1 euro each way. On the way amateur artists are performing in the carriages… Old ladies are selling the icecream…. You will have a fun! Once in Bilhororod Dnestrovsky cross the park and go all over the way Mikolayevska street – some 2,5 kms. You will see walls and towers from the distance… Entry fee they charge is 80 UAH no discounts. But it is worth the price! there are 3 chains of the walls. In the lower yard the craftsmen are working…
In the evening at sunset I attended the Dunayevski operetta in the open air theatre on the passenger pier of Odessa Port. Still interesting, but the temperature after spectacular sunset felt down , so do not forget to bring warm cloth with you 🙂 Return to the quarter through the vibrant streets was nice. And the bottle of wine (2 USD) at the end of the another interesting day…
