The temperature in the night dropped below zero. In the sunny morning the water was frozen in the camp pipes – no chance to wash the face! We got rice, eggs and boiled vegetables for breakfast… Only few kilometers away by gravel road we found the main attraction of this area: the valley surrounded by the cliffs:

In the years 1922-25 the mission of American archeologists was working here and discovered the bones and eggs of dinosaurs. There were also remains of the human dwelling. At the gate there is little museum and projection hall where you can see old black and white movie about discovery. There are also three view points on the rim of the valley with great views of the flaming- color cliffs:

After visiting dinosaur’s place ee started a long, outback drive to the next destination: Khongor Dunes. No single paved road, no road signs and I appreciate the skills of the driver who took me there in about 4 hours. I left my backpack in the ger camp. The only source of electricity was a solar battery:

The scenery was great – from the camp diunes up to 300 m high are visible with tje dark rocky mountains in the background:

In the afternoon I was free to climb the dunes, to take pictures and enjoy scenery. Herd of camels was waiting at the bottom offering short rides for 25000 tugriks. I preferred to climb by myself,:

Khongor Dunes are the biggest and prettiest in Mongolia. Weather was great and I really enjoyed the scenery

The night after was horrible: cold, windy, the bed was hard and food was poor… The toilet in the camps are 50- m away from thr ger. Imagine if you must go there in the middle of cold night…
